Procurement, supply women ‘bless’ orphanage

THE Women in Procurement and Supply, a wing of the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS), says it is committed to building stronger communities through support to the needy.

The network has pledged ongoing support to the Home of Happiness Orphanage, a haven for over 87 children, including 45 with disabilities and 15 with chronic illnesses, in Lusaka.

Speaking at a donation of assorted food and sanitary supplies to the home, delegation leader Chairlady Adrine Chimboni emphasised the importance of corporate social responsibility in meeting community challenges.

“Today, we have taken a step in the right direction, but this is just the beginning. We commit to creating lasting change, nurturing potential, and building stronger communities,” Chimboni said.

The donation included essential items such as clothing and food.

Chimboni urged stakeholders to join the initiative because it was  a collective obligation to the community.

“There are many ways to support the children. Through mentorship, skills sharing, educational support and ongoing donations. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of these children,” she said.

Chimboni said the donation communicated the importance of empathy and compassion in professional settings.

She said true leadership was demonstrated through service to others.

“We are not just procurement professionals, but also agents of change,” Chimboni said.

The Women in Procurement and Supply plans to maintain a sustained relationship with the Home of Happiness Orphanage, ensuring continued support for the children and the community.

Receiving the donation, Home of Happiness Orphanage programmes officer Lillian Mkandawire said the donation would ease a lot of challenges for the children at the orphanage.

“As you can see, some of the children cannot help themselves to go to the toilet on their own, They can’t clean themselves, so these supplies will go along way and means a lot to us,” Mkandawire said.

“It will put a smile on their faces, even the food you have brought will help with our nutrition program,” she said.
