Listen to what Zambians want, Mundubile counsels

THE choices made at the Patriotic Front (PF) national convention will strongly shape the 2026 general elections, one of the former ruling party’s presidential aspirants Brian Mundubile has said.
Speaking when he addressed Kabwe-based delegates to the forthcoming PF national convention, Mundubile called for stronger unity among members and supporters ahead of next year’s general elections.
“I want to remind all of us that the decisions we make at the PF convention will have a significant impact on the 2026 general elections.
This is why I insist that we must listen to what the Zambian people are saying,” Mundubile, who is PF Mporokoso member of Parliament, said.
He said the time had come for the former ruling party to interrogate the track records of all candidates.
“We need to look at what they have done, what they stand for, and what they can deliver for our country. The people of Zambia are already speaking, and their voice is always louder than any political grouping,” Mundubile said.
He urged party officials in Kabwe to pay particular attention to the aspirations of Zambians.
“Right now, citizens across the country are discussing who they believe can effectively challenge President Hakainde Hichilema in 2026. Within our party, we may be competing among ourselves, but ultimately we are carrying a huge national responsibility,” Mundubile said.
“If you combine the membership of all political parties in Zambia, we may not even exceed 2.5 million people – yet our country has over 20 million citizens. Sometimes, as politicians, we become selfish and think everything revolves around us. But the truth is simple: the people’s voice is always stronger. That is why even independent candidates win—because people know what they want,” he said.
“Stories will come – someone will be called a thief, someone else a tribalist. But each one of you has the judgment to see beyond lies.
This assignment is not a small task. This is a national election. The choices we make will shape the lives of millions of Zambians. And if, at the end of the process, the people say ‘Mundubile is not the one’ so shall it be. We must never entertain hate. We stand for unity – unity for the party and unity for the nation,” Mundubile said.
