MUNDUBILE SMELLS BLOOD
…UPND failure gives MP hope to easily oust HH

I AM ready to be the president of Zambia next year if adopted on the opposition ticket to challenge President Hakainde Hichilema because the United Party for National Development (UPND) government has completely failed, Brian Mundubile has declared.
Mundubile, Patriotic Front (PF) member of Parliament (MP) for Mporokoso Constituency in Northern Province said the UPND had failed to inspire the people of Zambia.
He was speaking when he featured on the Red-Hot Breakfast (RHB) show on Hot FM Radio.
“So, this is one thing that drives me to want to serve, to serve at a national level. I believe, especially now that we’ve been in opposition, I’ve looked at the gaps. I’ve looked at the many failures on the part of the government, and I realised that I can make a difference,” he said.
“I can make a difference in that my first goal is to put Zambia first, prioritise Zambia and put the Zambians first. The moment that happens, any leader who would do that would definitely make a difference.”
said the country was facing unprecedented poverty levels, economic injustices, and hunger, sadly, the UPND had failed to resolve any of the challenges the nation was facing.
Mundubile said Zambians should not lose hope for a better and united prosperous nation, urging them to mobilise and remove the UPND government next year.
He said Zambians needed jobs to grow the economy and reduce poverty, an agenda the UPND had failed to fulfill in the last four years of government.
“So the experience that I had firstly was that looking at the poverty levels in the country, the poverty levels in the country would average about 50 to 60 per cent, but in the rural parts of the country like in Mporokoso, Kasama and these other areas, it would be as high as 76 per cent. So, whatever you do, you needed to find solutions to lower the poverty levels. Many efforts have been made, but you see that there’s been no reduction in poverty levels. So, the only way we would want to fight poverty in those areas is by creating employment,” Mundubile said.
He said the high levels of poverty, injustices, division, hunger, unemployment and lack of business opportunities for women and youths had inspired him to aspire for the office of president.
“I still remain in the race to stand as the president of the party and later contest as the republican president. So, that ambition is still very much there. So, what’s driving this ambition? Like I said, it’s patriotism,” Mundubile said.
He said there was a need to create sustainable employment to reduce poverty, which could be done through investment in the agriculture sector, mining and other sectors of the economy.
Mundubile is one of the PF members jostling to take over the presidency of former president Edgar Lungu who died in South Africa in June this year.
