THE Mongu High Court has set August 1 as the date on which it will deliver the long-awaited judgment in the case of alleged shooting of a United Party for National Development (UPND) cadre during the 2015 Mulobezi parliamentary by-election.
In November last year, Justice John Mbuzi found former defence minister Davies Chama and Brian Dumisani Nyoni with a case to answer and put them on their defence.
In this case, Chama, who is also a former Patriotic Front (PF) secretary general, and Nyoni are charged with one count of acts intended to cause grievous harm contrary to section 224(a) of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
Particulars of the offence are that Chama and Nyoni, on June 6, 2015 at Mulobezi in the Mulobezi District of Western Province, jointly and whilst acting together, with intent to maim, disfigure or disable did wound Mushaukwa Mushaukwa.
Now the Mongu High Court has set date for judgement.
In a notice, the court has informed Chama and Nyoni of the date.
“Take note: that the above judgment in the above cause will be delivered by the High Court for Zambia of Mongu on the 1st August, 2025 at 09:00 hours in the fore noon,” the notice states.
