IS TRAMP WRONG ON HIS RADICAL STANCE ON THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES?
SO, United States (US) President Donald Trump is finally implementing “threats” he began making long ago when he was President for the first time. Now that he is starting to put them into action, I find it rather odd how he did not actually do that then, looking at how determined he suddenly is to act barely a week in office. Just a day or two after his second inauguration, Tramp gave a long, brazen speech that bewildered Africa and the rest of the third world. He did not mince words condemning the proverbial flooding of immigrants from these countries into the US and Europe. Nigeria, Mexico, and Brazil were probably the first to feel the heat that day, but overall, it was all of us in Africa and the rest of the world’s poor countries. Trump posed several questions to African leaders and Mexico, if it was humane for them to still have no decent structures and services for their citizens even after over 50 years of their independence. Trump boldly asked these leaders if they called themselves human, when they were busy syphoning their own countries’ natural resources and finances, which they go to hide and invest in developed countries, while their citizens wallowed in abject poverty! Trump wanted to know if these leaders called themselves human, when they bought weapons from developed countries and used them to massacre their own citizens! Trump then turned to us ordinary citizens of these countries, of Nigeria, Zambia, Mexico, Brazil and all others if it was correct for us to be running away from our corrupt leaders and economically torn down countries, rushing to America and Europe to loiter in street of New York, New Jersey, Atlanta, Oregon, Paris or London, indulging in illegal activities such as drugs, prostitution and other offenses instead of being in our countries confronting our leaders to sort out the rampant ills of corruption, greed, public theft and violation of human rights that have brought us so much misery. Trump could have asked a thousand other questions to which we would have failed to give definitive answers, but his message was very loud and clear, we are not wanted in his America, in fact, if he had the authority, he would have spoken on behalf of the entire developed world that we are no longer wanted or welcome in their countries!! Now Trump had said NO to handouts in the form of financial or medical supplies aid to us, urging us to “grow up” and sort out our problem on our own, to work together towards mending our countries and holding our leaders responsible for the dilapidated lives we are forced to live despite our wealth in resources!!! Yes, now America has pulled out of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and PEPFAR igniting so much speculation about the future and destiny of those that rely on ARTs, because from now onwards, America shall not be part of any free medical supplies to us.
The President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) has been the largest commitment by any nation to address a single disease in history, enabled by strong bipartisan support across 10 US congresses and four presidential administrations, and through the American people’s generosity. Well, Trump has now stopped it, his priority now, shall be improving the lives of Americans only!!! As you read this, 174 Zambians are already on the deportation list from America for not having valid documentation. Thousands of Nigerians and Mexicans and Brazilians are being taken out of America by force, in shackles, yes, they are being thrown on aeroplanes in chains on both hands and legs with no access to water while onboard like slaves, that’s what is happening. Private jets and luxury properties belonging to especially Nigerians and Mexicans are being repossessed by the American government, it is alleged, on suspicion they are proceeds of crime.
OK, now let me conclude this way, Trump is very much right. It is time we sorted out our own mess as Africa, as Zambia, as Nigeria as Mexico, Uganda, Congo and all other countries. It is time we said NO to corruption, to public theft, to greed. We have had very bad leadership in these African countries. Just here in Zambia, we have had leaders who amassed unimaginable wealth over very short years of reign. One was found with over 3,000 pairs of shoes and hundreds of designer suits in his wardrobe when he left power, with millions of stashed dollars in offshore accounts. for what honestly? Others have built hotels and mansions in Dubai, Europe, America and other places with hundreds of trucks locally, countless filling stations, farms, international conglomerates worth billions, while the majority of citizens barely manage a meal a day with no cooking oil or salt! The way loadshedding has taught us to use other means of lighting and cooking, let this Donald Trump move teach us to be self-reliant as a country, as a continent, let us hold our leaders accountable for their misdeeds. We need every penny to patch up our countries and lives.
