HICHILEMA HAS GONE TOO FAR
…Postmortem without ECL family, there must be something big troubling him-M’membe

PEOPLE’S Pact 2026 presidential candidate Dr Fred M’membe has accused President Hakainde Hichilema of ‘pulling the string too far’ by subjecting late former president Edgar Lungu’s body to a postmortem in Pretoria without family consent or legal basis.
Dr M’membe, who is also Socialist Party (SP) president, said he was arrested and detained for three days for previously questioning why President Hichilema was pursuing Lungu’s body so desperately and aggressively.
“There must be something very big troubling Hakainde [Hichilema] to do what he has just done three months before the elections. I want to know, everybody wants to know! Hasn’t what has just happened vindicated me?” he asked.
Dr M’membe warned that Hichilema’s unbridled desire to have everything his way and to treat every issue as a contest would prove costly to him and the nation.
“Impunity, arrogance, and over self-confidence are very dangerous traits in a leader. Hasn’t Hakainde crossed the red line? Is this man fit to continue holding the highest office?” Dr M’membe said.
He said Zambian voters had a single opportunity on August 13 to push Hichilema out and bring renewed hope.
On Wednesday, the Zambian government disobeyed a court order and forcibly removed Lungu’s body from Two Mountains Burial Services (PTY) Limited and took it to Forens another location were a postmortem was conducted without the consent of the family.
