THE Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has approved 24 licences, seven construction permits and licence inclusions, unlocking K1.1 billion (US$60 million) in energy investments.
In a statement seen by The Mast, ERB public relations manager Namukolo Kasumpa said the approvals, granted on March 16, covered electricity, renewable energy and downstream petroleum projects, showcasing investor confidence in Zambia’s energy sector.
Kapumpa said approved licences included renewable energy equipment manufacturing, petroleum product transportation and electricity generation.
She said the ERB also licensed 80 fuel tankers, boosting supply chain capacity and security.
“In downstream petroleum, seven construction permits and four retail service station commissions were approved, plus 73 LPG kiosks and one storage facility, enhancing LPG access nationwide,” she said.
Kapumpa said ERB was committed to compliance, transparency, consumer protection and sustainability in line with the Energy Regulation Act No 12 of 2019.
