Hichilema speech inspires Kabwe youth

KABWE-based governance activist Vislance Lumpa has described President Hakainde Hichilema’s address to Parliament Friday as inspiring.
Lumpa told The Mast yesterday the address gave hope to citizens and direction on the country’s future.
He said Hichilema’s speech had touched on key sectors such as education, health and energy, showing government’s commitment to addressing pressing national issues.
“The speech by President Hichilema was very inspiring. It was not only full of substance but also gave hope to the ordinary Zambian that things are moving in the right direction,” Lumpa said.
He noted that the Hichilema’s announcement that government would recruit 2,000 teachers and 2,000 health workers this year was a step towards addressing unemployment among youths and improving service delivery.
“This is a huge milestone because we have so many graduates who are just roaming the streets. The decision to employ more teachers and health personnel will go a long way in strengthening our education and health sectors,” Lumpa said.
He commended Hichilema for being candid about the energy crisis, acknowledging the sleepless nights government was having in seeking a lasting solution to the power deficit.
“Energy is the backbone of our economy, and the fact that the President admitted that government is having sleepless nights over this challenge shows seriousness and honesty in leadership,” Lumpa said.
He also praised Hichilema’s firm stance on corruption, saying the declaration of zero tolerance demonstrated political will to rid the nation of the vice.
“The President’s commitment to fight corruption is commendable. Declaring zero tolerance to corruption sends a strong signal that his administration is determined to ensure accountability and integrity in the management of public resources,” he said.
Lumpa urged citizens to rally behind the President and support government efforts to stabilise the economy.
