ECL family says there are no secret talks over Lungu’s remains…

WHO IS HH TALKING TO

By Mast Reporter

LAWYER Makebi Zulu says there are no quiet engagements or negotiations going on between former president Edgar Lungu’s family and the government as claimed by President Hakainde Hichilema.

This is contrary to Hichilema’s assurances that he was engaging the former first family quietly.

Zulu said the Lungu family will not engage a government and its agents which believed in twisting facts.

He said the UPND leadership was dishonest , untrustworthy and incapable of keeping any commitment.

In an interview with The Mast yesterday, Zulu who is family spokesperson said Hichilema was lying to the people of Zambia about any form of quiet engagements going on.

He wondered which family members Hichilema was engaging over former president Lungu’s mortal remains to be repatriated to Zambia for burial.

Zulu said the family and friends of former president Lungu were tired of the lies, malice and defamatory content from government.

He said the family was concerned about the continuous persecution of the family and former president Lungu in death.

“There have never been any engagements with President Hakainde Hichilema, there have never been any talks with his associates if anything, we are not negotiating with anyone. In fact, there is nothing going on with Lusaka. As family, we are preoccupied with the Court case as they are too. In fact, we are expecting them to file the response to our submission today [yesterday]. We are not in any talks apart from the Court processes,” said Zulu.

Zulu said the family of former president Lungu had noted with sadness the continued effort to disparage, harass and humiliate a dead person’s body.

“Even those they paid to discredit former president could see that they did not have information. The only thing they said was the narrative the UPND and State House has facilitated. But we are not bothered or worried about such desperation, we are focused on the court case and our hope is to see that they make submissions today to respond out our documents we submitted before the Courts here in South Africa,” he said.

It has been a month and two weeks since former president Lungu died in South Africa where he had gone to seek medical attention after several attempts were blocked by the government.
