Burratto’s marriage interference case waits
By Charles Musonda
Cleaners of Zambia (CAZ) president Lawrence Makumbi has objected to the request by Nemchem International Limited chief executive officer Toni Burratto to have the case in which he has sued the latter for marriage interference heard in camera.
When the case came up before Chilenje Local Court senior magistrates Ackim Phiri and Fridah Jere, Burratto was not present in court.
His representative presented to court Burratto’s letter in which he informed the court that he was outside Zambia and requested that the case be adjourned to next month.
Burratto also asked the court to hear the case in chambers instead of the open court.
But Makumbi objected to the request, saying he wants the matter o be heard in open court.
Justice Jere advised Makumbi to make the objection when the case takes off on November 3.
According to the summons, Burratto of Lusaka’s Chudleigh area, was served with the court process on September 29, 2026 and was expected to appear before court on October 6, 2026 to answer to the claim.
Makumbi is alleging that Burratto interfered in his marriage.
