UPND has lost power, says Imboela
By Adrian Mwanza
THE United Party for National Development (UPND) knows it has lost power, which is why it is now trying by all means to intimidate all political opponents, National Democratic Congress (NDC) president Saboi Imboela has said.
Imboela said in an interview with The Mast a political party that had lost power usually became aggressive and violent towards its citizens.
“UPND knows it has lost power; that is why it is doing everything possible to ensure it frustrates all political opponents that pose as a threat to its existence in power,” she said.
She said what happened in Mazabuka to Gary Nkombo was uncalled for.
Imboela said such conduct was expected across the country as the UPND had lost popularity and argument to seek a second term of office.
She said even people in Southern Province were now fed up with the party.
Imboela said the UPND in the province was divided.
“What will now happen is that people will give Nkombo a sympathy vote due to the mistreatment at the hands of the state and its machinery,” she said.
She said Nkombo would now get more votes since people had now seen that the UPND was now a scared and violent party.
