Unite or lose, Changala tells opposition
By Adrian Mwanza
GOVERNANCE activist Brebnar Changala has warned the opposition to find a common candidate before the August general elections or concede victory to the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND).
Speaking in an interview with The Mast yesterday, Changala said the failure to present a unified front against the UPND ahead of the August 13, 2026 polls was a matter of serious concern for the majority of Zambians.
“It is very heartbreaking because the opposition keep fighting each other instead of joining hands if they are to dislodge the UPND,” he said.
Changala said a popular flagbearer should have been unveiled by now, warning that time was running out.
He urged all those vying for the presidency to engage one another and agree on a single candidate the Zambian people could rally behind.
“I just want to urge these guys in the political sphere to put their egos aside and work together for the sake of Zambians,” he said.
Changala said the root of the problem was that everyone wanted to be president, a situation that was breeding confusion and paralysing opposition coordination.
He said what was needed was selfless leadership.
Changala also said the country was already experiencing hardship and that conditions could worsen for ordinary Zambians if the opposition continued to squabble rather than organise.
He, however, expressed hope that a lasting solution would be found in the national interest.
