THE Zambia Police Service says it has come up with the National Security Plan and the Electoral Security Plan.
Public relations officer Rae Hamoonga said in a statement yesterday the two plans were validated at a workshop in Siavonga District, Southern Province, which ended yesterday.
Commissioner of police in charge of operations Kaunda Mubanga opened the workshop on behalf of Inspector General of Police Graphel Musamba.
In his address read on his behalf by Mubanga, Musamba said the two plans were aligned with the Zambia Police 2023–2026 Strategic Plan, the National Security Strategy and the 8th National Development Plan.
He said the documents provided a strategic road map to enhance operational effectiveness, safeguard democratic processes and strengthen public confidence in the Zambia Police Service ahead of the 2026 general elections.
“This workshop must culminate in the production of a security and electoral plan that is practical, realistic and responsive to both current and emerging security challenges,” Musamba said.
He urged senior police officers and commanders to contribute their expertise to ensuring that the outcomes of the workshop improved professionalism, accountability and community trust.
Musamba said Zambia Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the nation and assures the public that security preparedness is being reinforced to ensure peace, law and order before, during and after the 2026 elections.
