UPND WILL PAY DEARLY

…Disrupting a religious event for political rally sealed your fate – Silumbe

By Mast Reporter

THE United Party for National Development (UPND) has caused great suffering to Zambia and it’s only right to vote its leadership out in August, says Leadership Movement (LM) presidential candidate Dr Richard Silumbe.

In an interview with The Mast, Dr Silumbe said the eviction of the Jehovah’s Witnesses from Heroes Stadium to accommodate President Hakainde Hichilema’s political campaign launch on Sunday had exposed how low the country had sunk.

“When I heard it, I never believed that it was true, but I planned to join the church meeting only to be told that the convention had been cancelled by the UPND. This is not only sad for Zambia but a dark day for the nation. It is a dark cloud on Christianity. Mr Hichilema’s desire to destroy the country is not hidden anymore, and it’s up to you Zambians to vote him out so that we protect the country from this bad omen,” Dr Silumbe said.

He said Hichilema’s decision to disturb a church service at Heroes Stadium had become part of his bad governance record.

Dr Silumbe said Hichilema wanted to govern like Adolf Hitler, the Nazi dictator.

He warned that voting for Hichilema again would give him a reason why he should ban Christians from congregating.

“Zambians, icikwanka bacimwena ku mampalanya. What Mr Hakainde did reflects his plans when he is re-elected. I will not be shocked if one day he wakes up and declares Christianity illegal in this country,” he said.

Dr Silumbe urged Zambian to start afresh and rebuild a nation that has been destroyed in the last five years of the UPND in government.

“This is my call to the people of Zambia, especially the youth, our women and all those interested in bringing back unity in this country. Freedom of worship is threatened if Mr Hichilema is re-elected. Mr Hakainde must go. If he is voted back, expect bad things to happen in this country. Don’t say I never warned you,” Dr Silumbe said.

He said Hichilema’s appetite for power was was clear and he would not stop at anything.

Dr Silumbe said Hichilema’s attempts to create an impression that he was popular was exposed at Heroes Stadium when his party transported people from as far as Kalomo, Kabwe, Kitwe, Kapiri Mposhi, Luangwa, Chirundu, Mazabuka, Monze and Choma to attend the launch of his campaign.

He said Hichilema was not popular even within the UPND as members had lost trust in him.

“This President is no longer popular; in fact, even within UPND, he has lost popularity. He is an easy candidate to defeat. A popular candidate who has delivered why force people to join his rally? Why transport people all the way from Southern Province, Central, Copperbelt, Northwestern and Western? You mean you don’t have people in Lusaka to attend your rally? This is the most careless and politically extravagant President this country has ever had,” he said.

Dr Silumbe said it was scandalous that Hichilema and his party had money for the function and campaigns when Zambians in the last five years had been dying of hunger and lack of medicines in hospitals.

“Just imagine Zambians, Mr Hichilema is running the most expensive campaign now. He is the only one dressing trees, littering Lusaka and the whole country with billboards. Ask him why money now, when in the last four years we never saw this kind of money? Zambians watch the space. Hichilema means no good for this country,” he said.
