Bring real men, not mashed potatoes – Saboi

NATIONAL Democratic Congress (NDC) president Saboi Imboela says the United Party for National Development (UPND) must stay away from her party, accusing the ruling party of trying to hijack opposition parties.
“If UPND wants to take over NDC, they should bring real men to the fight and not those mashed potatoes they’ve sent. We shall not allow UPND and its surrogates to take over our party,” Imboela said.
She described the recent convention held at a government lodge as a fake and desperate attempt to destabilise NDC and the opposition in general.
“We won’t allow anyone to hijack our party. We’ve faced attacks since 2021, but we’ll continue to overcome that. UPND must accept Zambia’s choice for plural politics and this will not change,” she said.
She warned that the route the UPND wanted was to take the country back to a one-party participatory system, which ended in 1991.

Imboela said it was clear now that the UPND was scared of the NDC’s growth and public attraction.
“Our party is attractive and growing at a fast rate. We have already completed 7 provincial conferences and are on track for the national convention next month. Our hard work, passion and dedication for the NDC will continue to define how we do our politics,” she said.
