THE Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) says it is committed to strengthening healthcare delivery.
Senior manager for corporate communications Bradley Chingobe said in a statement yesterday the institution would achieve this through strategic transformation, efficiency and integrity.
ZAMMSA director general John Kachimba made the commitment when he addressed senior members of staff at the official opening of the company’s strategic review meeting in Lusaka.
Chingobe said Dr Kachimba underscored ZAMMSA’s unwavering dedication to ensuring timely and efficient delivery of medicines and medical supplies to health facilities across the country,” he said.
“He highlighted the agency’s bold strides towards digital transformation through full electronic integration, a move set to enhance efficiency and streamline operations, ensuring that life-saving medicines reach those in need without delay.
With accountability and transparency at the core of ZAMMSA’s mandate, Dr Kachimba emphasised a zero-tolerance policy on corruption and called on all staff to uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
He reinforced the agency’s commitment to risk management and financial prudence, ensuring that resources are effectively utilised to sustain and strengthen Zambia’s healthcare system.
Chingobe stressed the need to restore public confidence in ZAMMSA by fostering a performance-driven culture that prioritises service excellence.
“He urged all staff to embrace multi-sectoral collaborations with stakeholders and cooperating partners, recognizing that collective action is essential for sustained success,” he said.
“To align with the National Health Strategic Plan, Dr Kachimba outlined plans for infrastructure expansion and development, ensuring that ZAMMSA continues to support the nation’s growing healthcare needs. He emphasised the importance of identifying challenges proactively, building resilience and ensuring that public trust remains at the heart of ZAMMSA’s operations,” he said.
Chingobe said Dr Kachimba also reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to eliminating inefficiencies, strengthening procurement and distribution processes and maintaining high stock availability of essential medicines and medical supplies.
By prioritising resource optimisation, ZAMMSA aimed to enhance service delivery and reinforce Zambia’s healthcare supply chain.
He also stated that “this strategic review meeting marks a renewed commitment to excellence, innovation and integrity.
“Through collective effort and dedication, ZAMMSA is poised to strengthen healthcare delivery and contribute to a healthier Zambia,” Chingobe said.
