CHANGE IS COMING, SAYS KAPATA
… PF acting national chairperson declares former ruling party intact, says Mundubile must consider himself expelled

CHANGE is coming regardless of whether the United Party for National Development (UPND) likes it or not, Patriotic Front (PF) acting national chairperson Jean Kapata has said.
And Kapata says Mporokoso Member of Parliament Brian Mundubile should consider himself expelled from the PF for aligning himself with the breakaway Tonse Alliance.
Kapata, a former Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, said in an interview with The Mast yesterday that no amount of intimidation, schemes and dishonest activities would derail the resolve of Zambians to kick out the UPND on August 13, 2026.
“Well, the change of government will definitely be there. It will definitely be there. You know, PF, we quickly need to move and choose a leader who is going to stand on behalf of the PF and also choose a party that we are going to use as PF.
“And I just want to appeal to all well-meaning Zambians that you’ve seen what has happened to the party PF and don’t relent, don’t be discouraged. Your PF is there and we shall make sure that we are on the ballot come 13th August 2026,” Kapata said.
She said the PF leadership was fully aware that the party would not be returned to its rightful owners because the United Party for National Development (UPND) had deployed the full weight of the State machinery to weaken the former ruling party.
Kapata said the UPND was scared of the PF and was operating under the illusion that the only way it could retain power was by using government machinery to dismantle the former ruling party.
“We knew a long time ago that the party would not be given back to us. This is not about Chabinga [Mafinga member of Parliament Robert Chabinga] but the government who have taken the PF. The PF is in the hands of the government,” she said.
Kapata said the UPND was fully aware that if the PF restored to its leadership ahead of the August 13 general elections, it would spell the ruling party’s removal from power.
“The government machinery is the one that is controlling the PF. The PF is in UPND. All we want to see, they know what it means if they have to give back to us,” Ms Kapata said.
She said the PF remained alive in the hearts and minds of many Zambians, describing it as a noble political movement rather than a cult.
“However, whether they give us back or they don’t give us back, the PF is very much alive. Our structures are very intact, and we are very much alive. And in fact, we are going to be even more alive than ever,” she said.
Meanwhile, Kapata has wished Mundubile well after his election as Tonse Alliance chairman.
She said Mundubile had automatically expelled himself from the PF and should cease to use the name of late former president Edgar Lungu in his campaign.
“Well, as far as I’m concerned, if you ask me, Mundubile just expelled himself from the PF because you cannot go and belong to an entity that has expelled your party from, and you go there in a different name. Even mimicking the president, the late president.
“We wish him well, let him be elected there, we wish him well. And I just want to call upon all the PF structures, letters were written to you, please abide by the letters. The party has not moved,” Kapata said.
She urged PF members not to be swayed but stick around the acting party president given Lubinda.
“Where the acting president is, that’s where the PF is. The rest of the people are not PF, they are something else. And I want to tell them, to caution them, to stop using the PF name to confuse people. Let them use whatever they want to use, but please, distance yourself from using the late president’s name and the name of PF,” she said.
