Vote for Mubanga, SP urges Kasama residents
By Adrian Mwanza
THE Socialist Party (SP) has urged the residents of Kasama to vote for the party’s candidate Joseph Mubanga in the mayoral by-election set for January 29.
In a statement issued yesterday, SP Copperbelt vice chairperson and member of the central committee Reagan Kashinga described Mubanga as a committed resident who had worked tirelessly to uplift the community.
“Mubanga’s contributions, including the construction of schools and other development projects in Kasama are well known and residents have attested to that,” he said.
Mubanga criticised the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) for neglecting the district and prioritising their own political allies.
Kashinga said there was no way the people of Kasama could vote for a party whose leaders listened only to their close allies at the expense of the greater good.
He urged voters to reject leaders who disregarded the voices of ordinary citizens.
“Kasama has suffered from hunger, fertiliser shortages and unpaid dues, because of poor governance and bad leadership. It is time to change and we are changing now. Lusaka and Chawama have given us the signal, and we should do the same to show these people that they are gone,” he said.
Kashinga warned that continued support for the UPND would mean endorsing hardship, poverty, injustices and broken promises.
He said electing Mubanga would strengthen the Socialist Party’s national agenda under Dr Fred Mmembe.
Kashinga appealed to the residents of Kasama to make a bold statement at the polls and usher in a new beginning by voting for Mubanga.
