We are winning Chawama – UPND
By Adrian Mwanza
THE United Party for National Development (UPND) says it is confidence of winning the Chawama parliamentary seat in a by-election slated for this Thursday.
Media director Mark Simuuwe said the UPND government had delivered development across the country and there was no reason why it would lose the seat to the opposition.
In an interview with The Mast yesterday, Simuuwe said President Hakainde Hichilema’s policies resonated well with the people of Chawama and the country at large.
“We are winning the Chawama [seat]. We are not stoppable. A UPND candidate will be an MP for that constituency after Thursday,” he said.
Simuuwe said the UPND had scored several achievements such as the School Feeding Programme, free education and Cash for Work programme which had been received positively.
Government had realised that a number of school-going children could not afford three meals a day and that the School Feeding Programme was a game changer.
“For us in Chawama we have done our groundwork because we have engaged the electorate and reminded them of what we have achieved,” Simuuwe said.
He said the UPND had also given market booster loans to the marketeers in the constituency and the country at large.
Simuuwe said the marketeers new the importance of market booster loans in changing their lives.
“Over 400 youths have graduated in skills training, and that gives us a pronounced message on the pro-poor individuals and we are optimistic that we are going to carry the day,” he said.
Simuuwe said he was confident that Muunda Morgan would carry the day in the elections slated for Thursday.
