Stop using hate speech against critics, HH urged

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema should stop using hate speech to create a misleading and dangerous narrative that he is hated because of his ethnic background, The Zambia We Want Party (ZWWP) president Kapembwa Simbao has said.
Simbao warned that the route Hichilema was taking put the country at risk of tribal conflicts if not stopped immediately.
“So, being confronted with that reality, I think the President has entered into a very dangerous situation, which is an inferiority complex, which is very bad because in the position he is, there is no one who can feel better than that,” he said.
Simbao said Hichilema’s failure to appreciate unity in diversity would soon consume him.
He said Zambians detested tribalism and any promotion of virtues that were against the country’s unity was an enemy to the people of Zambia.
“This Bill 7, for example, he knows it’s a wrong thing. He knows it’s a bad thing. If he doesn’t know that, at least the people are telling him that this is a wrong thing, this is a bad thing. At least people haven’t hidden him, in fact. So, he can take it and take a different position. It’s nothing shameful to change his mind about it,” Simbao said.
He urged Hichilema to seek God and repent.
“You know, even God repents. You know, it’s there in the Bible. Moses says, ‘It’s better I bring myself out of the book of life, if you decide to destroy the Israelites’. And it says God repented. There’s nothing wrong, there’s nothing shameful about it. But you see, he’s so proud that he thinks doing that is a weakness,” Simbao said.
Simbao said Zambians were in a dangerous situation under Hichilema.
He said whoever complained against misrule was perceived as a person who hated the President.
“…it’s a very dangerous situation we are in. We are with a president who feels very insecure. You know, I mean, complaining about his tribe. Then I don’t know what people who come from a very small tribe would say. You know, because his tribe is quite big. Now, if you keep on saying, because it’s Tonga, because it’s Tonga.
He’s trying to make the other Tongas feel that they are not worth what they are. It’s not a good thing. He must change his way of thinking,” he said.
Simbao urged Hichilema to put Zambia first rather than being vengeful.
“First of all, his way of thinking is very bad. He came into this position vengeful. You know, he should have changed his mind immediately. He was pronounced president for all. But he came in very revengeful,” he said.
Simbao said Hichilema could not change, and allowing him to continue on that trajectory beyond 2026 would be disaster for the nation.
“It’s not possible. You know, the more people try to correct him, the more he hardens his stance. The more he thinks people are just fighting him because he’s Tonga. You know, he doesn’t want to look around and look back and see why people are doing or saying what they are saying. So, it’s not possible. He’s not going to change, Hichilema can’t change at all,” Simbao said.
