THE Road Development Agency (RDA) says the six to ten-miles Great North Road section under construction will be opened to the public in the next seven days.
RDA board chairperson Eugene Haazele said the move was aimed at reducing congestion that motorists had been enduring.
Haazele said the opening of the road would proceed once the project records at least three to four consecutive days of clear weather.
Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka yesterday, on the agency’s 2025 performance, he said the Lusaka–Ndola dual carriageway, popularly known as the Great North Road was nearly 60 percent complete, making it one of the most advanced Public Private Partnership (PPP) road projects currently in progress.
He said the 45 kilometers of the road was already in use under maintenance arrangements.
Meanwhile, Haazele described the 2025 as a year of strong progress for the agency.
He highlighted RDA’s continued successes in delivering key projects focused on enhancing safety, improving connectivity and supporting national economic growth.
Haazele said several PPP projects in progress across the country, including works on the Ndola–Sakania road, rehabilitation of the Mufulira access roads, and border infrastructure upgrades among other projects.
