Zesco announces 21-hour load shedding

ZESCO Limited has announced an extended period of 21 hours without electricity daily for residential areas.
The 21-hour load shedding schedule released by Zesco yesterday shows that households will only receive electricity for three hours in a single day.
“Zesco advises customers that the electricity rationing for the week, 9 to 15 November, is out,” the corporate communication department said.
According to the schedule for Lusaka District, commercial buildings and industries will receive electricity for seven hours only from 10:00 hours to 17:00 hours daily.
Zesco said farms around Lusaka will only be connected to electricity at night from 22:00 hours to 06:00 hours daily on a seven-hour power supply programme.
The power utility announced that residential properties in Lusaka will only have access to electricity for three hours daily on the dates and times planned.
Industrial areas in Northern, Muchinga, and Luapula provinces will only receive power from midday to late afternoon, while hospitals will receive electricity from 19:00 hours to 12:00 hours.
Other areas that will be affected by the new schedule are Kitwe, Mufulira, Chililabombwe and Ndola on the Copperbelt.
Zesco said it was doing everything possible to address the challenge, urging its customers to report faults in time.
“Zesco remains committed to adhering to the published schedules, but faults and other unplanned outages, including those caused by vandalism and theft of electrical installations, may disrupt these plans,” Zesco said in its weekly bulletin.
