MTN Zambia targets digital transformation

 By Tony Nkhoma

MTN Zambia says  it is committed to contributing to Zambia’s digital transformative journey.

Chief executive officer Abbad Reda said MTN had in the last 20 years contributed to Zambia’s digital economy through strategic investment not only in infrastructure but also products and services that focused on empowering the customers, with an opportunity to participate and benefit from a connected world.

Speaking during the official opening of the MTN ICT Connect Expo in Lusaka Reda said his company is aware of the governments’ aspirations to transform Zambia into a digital economy.

“That’s the reason we are launching the ICT Connect Expo today, because we are providing a platform for our enterprise customers, government stakeholders, SMEs and industry innovators to engage in dialogue, showcase cutting-edge digital solutions, and foster strategic partnerships,” Reda said.

He said MTN’s goal was to ensure that everyone got the benefits of a modern connected life, reaffirming the commitment to continue supporting Zambia’s bold digital transformation agenda.

“As MTN Zambia, our aim is to lead digital solutions for Africa’s progress, and we are committed to being a trusted partner that enables Africa’s business in their digital evolution,” Reda said.

He said it was noteworthy that information and communication technology has been identified as one of the key enablers of economic transformation and job creation.

Reda said his company is aware that businesses operating in the modern context are always striving to improve productivity saying MTN stands ready to help grow and scale the businesses.

“With MTN’s extensive footprint across Zambia, we are a key partner enabling geographical expansion for all businesses operating in multiple provinces. We are certain that the solutions will transform how businesses operate and contribute to Zambia’s digital transformative journey,” he said.

“MTN Zambia enterprise business unit general manager Mildred Chica said the ICT Connect Expo would provide a platform for various business stakeholders to engage in dialogue, showcase cutting-edge digital solutions, and foster strategic partnerships.

Chica said the Expo would highlight MTN’s evolution from a provider of basic mobile solutions to a trusted partner driving digital transformation across all sectors.

“When MTN Business first began its journey, our mission was simple -to connect people and businesses through reliable mobile communication. Today, MTN Business stands as a trusted partner in helping enterprises operate smarter, safer, and more efficiently through cutting-edge technologies,” Chica said.
