We are going through hell – UPND official

THE minister of energy is telling the nation that we are having at least nine hours of electricity while the truth is that we are going through hell, says George Banda, a resident of Sinda District in Eastern Province.
Banda, who is Sinda district vice United Party for National Development (UPND) secretary refuted the statement made by the energy minister about reduced load shedding.
Banda said cadres were required to defend the ministers but certain things did not need to be defended even they were telling lies.
“The minister of energy is telling the nation that we are having nine hours of load shedding while the truth is that we are going through hell, that was a lie. He is my minister. We are suppose to defend but there are things we can’t defend. For a minister to be lying it doesn’t make sense at all,” he stated
Banda expressed worry that the possibility was high that President Hakainde Hichilema was being fed with lies by the ministers that things were okay when it was not true.
“These are the lies these people are telling the president. They are telling the president that things are okay yet things are not okay. This is the time to check were we are making mistakes because what we see is not what is on the ground,” he said.
Banda urged ministers to help the president in doing the right things because the president can’t manage to be everywhere to explain things.
“Imagine the number of youths with barbershops, number of youths with saloons, if we lie yet they know the truth, do you think they will be happy? Let’s not frustrate people,” he said.
Banda, who is also aspiring to contest as a council chairperson under the UPND, said now was the time to work on things instead of waiting until elections were close.
“We don’t want a situation where government starts panicking to sort out electricity, panicking to sort out fuel issues. Do things not because of an election. Don’t bring electricity because you have seen elections. Let it be there . Tell people the truth,” Banda said.
“The president is working but we are having a challenge with his ministers and I believe these ministers are lying to the President. People are very happy with the President. They have seen his works and in Sinda each school has a tleast received one by three classroom block, desks have been delivered to most schools. A lot of health posts have been constructed under CDF,” he said.
