Minister Mwamba warns defilers they risk losing their katundu

WHEN we open Parliament next month, I will push for a bill that will allow for the castration of men who sexually abuse children, Minister of Community Development and Social Services Doreen Mwamba has warned.
Addressing villagers, Mwamba said it was shocking and disgusting that men were shamelessly defiling children, destroying the future.
“How do you undress before a young girl? Twamwakwata insoni? [Are you not ashamed]? Because we only see dogs doing that, isn’t it? Dogs can start mating like that. No, you elders should not do that, surely. Pantu imbwa na papene kuti shacita, shalacite fyo. Nomba imwe mwebakalamba imwe because dogs can start mating even right here, but you are adults],” Mwamba said.
Mwamba warned that when Parliament resumes, she would be tabling a bill allowing stiffer punishment for defilers, and castration would be one such penalties when found guilty of the crime.
“I’m warning you, men of Zambia. When we open Parliament, I’m pushing for castration. You defile a girl, you’ll be castrated. Pakweba ati tafilemucusha ifintu ifyo [so that those things no longer trouble you]. As a minister mandated with the welfare of children in this country, I’ll push that any defiler in this country should be castrated.
“Nkabika ifunde ukupitila mu parliament iyakweba ati imwe mwebaume abalala nakaice kukuputula ifyo ifintu ifilekushupa. Kufiputula, ngataulefwaya ngawalifitemwa ifintu ifyo wakwata fisunge bwino. Ufisunge bwino muchinshi mucinshi, ngawatampafye ukufyanbgasha kuka mwana akonono wishibe ati wa losing’a amapawazi,” Mwamba said.
(I will come up with a law that when a man sexually abuses a child, he goes for castration. Those things you have need to be cut, they will be cut if you don’t want them. If you like them, please be responsible enough not to defile children. Respect your things by avoiding having sex with kids. If you are found, we shall castrate you and you will lose your power)
Mwamba said government would not tolerate such evil acts against children.
“Dad, tukakuputula. Pantu twamweba bashetani imwe twanaka lekeni ukufulila abana abanono tamuleumfwa, lekeni ukulala utunya. Tamwabamona abakalamba? Lekeni ukulala utunya nga tamulefwaya ukumiputula,” she said.

Mwamba said there was no other way to stop the scourge.

Recently, the Zambia Police Service raised alarm on the rise in sexual crimes against children.
