POLICE in Kasempa District in North-western Province have arrested two Chinese men for shooting a six-year-old girl, instantly killing her while she was playing with her friends.
The victim’s aunt, Mercy Moze, said the children were playing in a thatch-roofed shelter when a bullet hit the girl in the head, instantly killing her.
“The child was playing with her friends, and a bullet all of a sudden hit her in the head, and instantly she fell on the ground and died,” she said.
Moze said it was later found that the two Chinese men who had shot the child had been testing their guns from the pit at a mine in the area.
“I later found out that the Chinese were testing their gun and ended up killing the child,” she said.
North-western Province commissioner of police Brighton Siwale identified the suspects as Zheng Chencheng, 44, and Wan Rong Gen, 48.
Siwale said Zheng was using a Taurus pistol while Wan had a Sig-Sauer P320 pistol.
“While testing their pistols inside the mine area, they were shooting facing the southern direction, where Jifumpa Primary School is located. In the process, a stray bullet landed on Kuwama Mutumbwe, who was standing in a thatched shelter at Jifumpa Primary School Teachers’ Compound, on her head and caused her to sustain gunshot wounds on her head and she died instantly,” he said.
