Zambia U17, U20 Handball teams mint gold

…secure qualification for Africa Cup of Nations at Zone 6 IHF tournament held in Harare, Zimbabwe

THE Zambia Under -17 and U20 women’s Handball national teams have been crowned champions of the 2025 Zone 6 International Handball Federation (IHF) tournament held in Harare, Zimbabwe.

The tournament which ran from April 28 and ended on May 3, 2025 (Saturday) saw the Zambian teams emerge victorious out of the nine participating countries.

The victory has secured Zambia’s qualification to the Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Algiers, Algeria in September this year.

Mozambique, Malawi, Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, and the hosts Zimbabwe are Southern African countries which participated in the tournament.

According to a post on the Handball Association of Zambia Facebook page, the association said it remained hopeful for a victorious outcome at the continental championship.

“Both teams represented the country with pride and were determined to win the golden trophies. Both our U17 and 20 Girls Handball national teams have qualified after beating Zimbabwe on May 3, 2025 in the finals played at the Chitungwudza Aquatic Sports Complex’’
