ZAMBIAN top golfer Sydney Wemba has rallied back with a strong second day score of 69, three-under in the 2025 Rwanda Golf Open (Professionals) and made the cut yesterday.

Sydney Wemba

This was the second best round of golf yesterday out of all players on the field and is a show of Wemba’s mental strength and preparation during off season.

Wemba had a slow start on day one with nine over 81 and was at risk of missing the cut but there was no doubt he would turn it around.

The 2025 Rwanda Golf Open is being played at the prestigious par-72 Kigali Golf Resort and Villas.

After the first 18 holes, it is a shot lead for Rwanda’s Celestin Nsanzuwera who scored six-under-66 on the day.

According to Kawowo Sports, a Ugandan publication, Nsanzuwera’s score card read 7 birdies on holes 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8 and 10 with 10 pars (on holes 5, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18) and one bogie on par 4 hole 4.

He takes a single shot advantage over Zimbabwe’s Promise Sembreiro (67).

Another Zimbabwe player, Visitor Mapwanya scored one-under-70 and was in third place ahead of round tee off on Thursday.
