FOOTBALL Association Zambia (FAZ) president Andrew Kamanga says the Electoral Committee will announce the successful candidates on February 17, 2025 after the vetting process is completed.

In his weekly column dubbed the President’s Corner published on his official Facebook page, Kamanga  said  there were  many other benchmarks outside the Integrity Test that candidates would be subjected to.

“At the moment , the Governance and Review Committee is ploughing through the nominations to zero in on those that qualify. Just like any other election, there are benchmarks that one must meet to be eligible for elections.

“ Not too long ago.,  I underwent similar scrutiny by FIFA for the seat I am contesting in the March 12 poll at the CAF Congress. My candidature had to be validated after passing the FIFA Integrity Test which for the record a few candidates failed,” Kamanga said.

He said the  FAZ elections were aligned with the FIFA model with standard checks applied for candidacies to be validated.

Kamanga  wished prospective candidates the best of luck and encouraged them to anchor their messages on issues and not personalities.

“There are a few cyber domiciled mercenaries that our football should look out for as we take our game forward. The Electoral Committee has done a great job to provide all stakeholders with the necessary information on the roadmap.

“ Sometimes it feels like we are victims of running a very transparent system that opens us up to abuse by some third parties especially online,” Kamanga said.

Kamanga also said the Copper Queens will have two international friendlies during the FIFA window against the Scorchers of Malawi.

He said the friendlies are the first phase of preparation for the Morocco 2025 Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Kamanga said Copper Queens coach Nora Hauptle and her technical staff will use the international window to evaluate the players ahead of the tournament.

He said foreign based players would join the locals next week when the FIFA window opens.

“Our job is to make the qualification for the five AFCON tournaments we have qualified for count. Like we have repeatedly said our qualification to all the major tournaments will only count when we do well which is our primary objective in 2025.”
