Acacia plans HH mall, 5,000 houses

ACACIA Trade and Development Consultancy Group director Dr Kelvin Kamayoyo says plans to construct the Hakainde Hichilema Mall at the Natural Resources Development College (NRDC) are underway.
Speaking at the Build Zambia Expo in Lusaka, Dr Kamayoyo said the project would include a 15-storey, five-star hotel to be built at the mall.
He said the HH Mall would feature premium retail and anchor stores, as well as corporate office towers.
“This is a milestone project which will change the face of Lusaka and Zambia in general. We are determined to bring business and beauty closer to Lusaka and the community around the NRDC,” he said.
Dr Kamayoyo said the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) Gold Trading Centre would also be housed at the world-class mall.
He said the shopping mall was expected to create employment for local people, noting that the proposed naming of the mall symbolised national economic transformation and prosperity for all Zambians.
Dr Kamayoyo also announced plans to construct modern housing units in mining towns and other areas, in line with the Grow Zambia Agenda.
He said 5,000 housing units would be built in mining townships and other selected areas.
Dr Kamayoyo said the projects respond3e to the growth, inclusion and sustainability pillars of the Grow Zambia Agenda.
“The Grow Zambia Agenda provides a hierarchy for quick wins plus a long-term economic transformation pathway, with a construction multiplier effect on Gross Domestic Product (GDP), employment, and over 20 linked industries,” he said.
Dr Kamayoyo said the projects would support the Public Private Partnership (PPP) agenda and the National Council for Construction (NCC) in facilitating economic transformation.
Dr Kamayoyo also said Acacia’s partners in the United States (US), United Kingdom (UK), Singapore and the Middle East were ready to commence the two projects with an 80 percent capital injection for each.
“Acacia Trade and Development Consultancy Group has initiated discussions with the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) and looks forward to further engagements with the National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA), NCC, National Housing Authority (NHA), Ministries and other partners to move to deal-clinching, feasibility and implementation,” Dr Kamayoyo said.
