 MORE TO BE FIRED

…civil servants working against HH will go – UPND

By Adrian Mwanza

MORE civil servants will be retired in the national interest for working against President Hakainde Hichilema, United Party for National Development (UPND) national youth chairperson Gilbert Liswaniso says.

And Liswaniso has warned opposition Tonse Alliance leader Brian Mundubile and his running mate in the August election Makebi Zulu to prepare for a long stay in prison because they are facing serious charges.

Speaking when he featured on Prime TV’s Matters Arising programme on Saturday, Liswaniso said civil servants working against the UPND manifesto would be fired.

He said all those found wanting would be retired in the national interest.

“Zambians should know that more people will be retired in national interest because they are working with the opposition. I must tell you that more people are going to be retired because they are trying to undermine President Hichilema’s rule,” Liswaniso said.

He said the purge would continue because there were people working with the opposition to frustrate the government.

Liswaniso said civil servants needed to be careful.

They should work with the government of the day and not try to antagonise.

“I want to urge civil servants not to try to undermine the government because more people will be fired, and I can assure that more people will be fired after this purge,” he said.

Government has started dismissing civil servants perceived to be against the UPND and Hichilema.

And Liswaniso has warned opposition Tonse Alliance leader Brian Mundubile and his running mate in the August election Makebi Zulu to prepare for a long stay in prison because they are facing serious charges.

Mundubile and Zulu, together with 16 others facing treason cases, should forget about coming out from prison “any time soon”.

He said the charges they were facing were grave.

“Brian Mundubile and Makebi Zulu are not coming out any time soon and they know it because the matter is quite serious. Banapanga mulandu wa treason. So sibazacoka manje apa and they know it that they are not going to come out now. Those two and their colleagues outside know that they are not coming out of prison now. That is why they are saying twalafilila mu nsenga,” Liswaniso said.

He said when the UPND leadership was arrested and taken to Mukobeko for treason, the State did not find guns at Hichilema’s house, even among those that were there.

“Even us, we were once in opposition, but did you find us with guns? No, we were even arrested and spent days in detention but you did not hear anything from us,” Liswaniso said.

He said it was unfortunate that the opposition was not remorseful about its conduct, resulting in the arrest and incarceration of its leadership facing treason.

Liswaniso said Hichilema was the most abused president in the history of the country.

“During our days in opposition we never wished Edgar Lungu death like what is happening now. Elections are over and allow the government to do its job rather than shooting in the dark,” he said.

Liswaniso said instead of working on bringing unity in the nation and lobbying for the release of Mundibile and Zulu, the opposition was busy insulting Hichilema.
