My suspension a ”fake pot” – unrepentant Zumani

EMBATTLED Tonse Alliance secretary general Dr Chris Zumani Zimba has condemned his suspension as fake and branded the opposition
coalition’s leadership hijackers.
Dr Zimba accused those who had instigated his ban of exploiting detained alliance president Brian Mundubile.
He was a fortnight ago suspended through a letter circulated on social media allegedly signed by Mundubile himself.
“SC Chifumu Banda chaired a virtual council of leaders meeting where we resolved via resolution that BM and MZ were free to petition in their individual capacity and not to involve Tonse Alliance. Tonse resolved not to petition because the tensions and political fire was too much,” Dr Zimba said.
He said the punishment came after he called for dialogue and reconciliation with President Hakainde Hichilema instead of petitioning the August 2026 election results.

Dr Zimba, former political advisor to late former president Edgar Lungu, said he deliberately refused to comment on the suspension for weeks for moral and spiritual reasons.
“As someone who was in prison in 2023, I feel and understand the pain BM is going through in that maximum prison. I cannot fight or exchange media battles with my leader and comrade who is in prison. That felt like serious moral transgression,” he said, citing Proverbs 3:5-6.
Dr Zimba dismissed allegations that he had issued statements without consulting Mundubile as fabricated.
“From the day we created Tonse in 2024, I have written multiple statements on my Facebook about Tonse without consulting anyone. The Tonse spokesperson, deputy spokesperson, presidential affairs chairman issue statements every week without consulting anyone. Why are they not suspended? Why did things suddenly change against me in August 2026?” he wondered.
Dr Zimba said the statements were written on his personal Facebook page in his personal capacity and not as Tonse Alliance.
He accused ‘ghost politicians’ within WOZA, PF Pamodzi and Tonse itself of plotting his downfall to take over the alliance while Mundubile remained detained.
