Don’t forget the people, Kasune tips MPs

KEEMBE West Member of Parliament (MP) Princess Kasune has urged her colleagues to not forget the people who voted for them when Parliament resumes.
In an interview with The Mast, Kasune said it was important for MPs to continue visiting their constituencies so that they could know the challenges the people were facing.
She said for some time the electorate had raised alarm that some MPs only visited the constituencies when it was time for elections.
“My call is that we need to go back and thank the people that gave us their votes and to also frequently visit so that we can understand their challenges,” Kasune said.
She said voters wanted a hands-on MP who would listen to their concerns as that helped the law-makers know what was affecting them.
The consequences of neglecting the voters were serious.
It was prudent for all those in Parliament to make it a habit of creating rapport with the electorate.
Kasune congratulated the new MPs and urged them to stay connected with their bases if they were to succeed.
She said no one knew it all but that with time they would learn the ropes and ensure that they fulfilled the wishes of the people.
“Parliament has all the human resources to support members. Congratulation to all of them especially females MPs,” Kasune said.
She urged the women MPs to rise to foster development in their constituencies.
