HH ready to use underhand methods – Sichinga

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema is so desperate to cling to power that he is ready to use underhand methods to ensure a victory, Socialist Party (SP) vice president Bob Sichinga has said.
In an interview with The Mast Sichinga said the head of state was on record saying he was going to use ‘imingalato’ to ensure he remained president.
He said such remarks were dangerous and it was an indication that the President and his team were using underhand methods in order to disadvantage the opposition.
“Hichilema is on record saying he would use ‘imingalato’ to disadvantage the opposition. If you follow these words thoroughly you will see that these are tactics that are meant to disadvantage the opposition,” Sichinga said.
He said the detention of former Gwembe member of Parliament Brian Ntundu at Ridgeway Police Post for merely refusing to withdraw his candidature was a sign that he was ready to do anything to keep power.
“This man wants to treat people like his personal property because there’s no way you can detain an individual because he refused to withdraw his candidature,” Sichinga said.
He said this however would not help him because Zambians had made up their minds that they had nothing to do with the United Party for National Development (UPND).
Sichinga said it was unfortunate that Hichilema was even stopping members to contest as independent MPs.
He wondered why the President was worried when it was the people that had the final say and not what was happening.
