338km of Lusaka-Ndola road done – govt

By Adrian Mwanza

GOVERNMENT says the Lusaka-Ndola Dual Carriageway Road project has reached a significant milestone, with 65 per cent of the project done.

Currently, 338 kilometers of the road is open to users.

Ministry of Information and Media principal public relations officer Shamwinda Tembo said the major infrastructure upgrade, delivered through a public-private partnership valued at US$649 million, aimed to improve regional connectivity and stimulate economic growth.

Tembo said government was satisfied with the progress being made on the project.

“This achievement is a testament to government’s unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality infrastructure that meets the needs of Zambians,” he said.

Tembo the collaborative public-private partnership arrangement was working smoothly, without any major hiccups and government was proud of the positive impact the project was expected to have on the lives of Zambians.

He said the project was proceeding according to schedule, with completion expected by September 2026, and was poised to improve regional connectivity, stimulate economic growth and improve the overall well-being of the people.
