Kabimba, Silavwe condemn Maduro capture

THE Economic Front Party (EFP) has condemned the United States of America’s unilateral decision to abduct Venezuela’s President Nicolás Maduro.
EFP president Wynter Kabimba said the military action against Venezuela was in breach of international law.
“We wish to condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the military action carried out by the United States against the sovereign state of Venezuela and its people, including the alleged kidnapping of that country’s president. Such actions constitute a blatant disregard for, and a clear violation of, international law and the United Nations Charter,” Kabimba said.
He urged member states of the United Nations (UN) to unequivocally condemn the US government for its conduct, as it set a dangerous precedent for the future of international relations.
“The principle that “might is right” cannot foster international peace. Instead, it only leads to a divided world, fuels further conflict and undermines the very foundations of democracy and a free, harmonious global order,” he said.
And Golden Party of Zambia president Jackson Silavwe says the capture of Maduro, a sitting head of state who had never declared war on America, was extremely disturbing.
“No doubt, America has great military power and prowess, which has immensely contributed to world peace, but it must not be used to dominate or intimidate other nations,” Silavwe said.
He said the action by the Donald Trump administration against the people of Venezuela defeated the purpose of world peace.
“I have admired President Trump’s leadership on many fronts, but today, America’s actions in Venezuela feed into both individual and global insecurity. We hope Venezuela and the region do not disintegrate into chaos like we have seen in the Middle East after similar military operations,” Silavwe said.
