‘Zambians see HH motorcade more than electricity’
By Tony Nkhoma

CIVIL Rights activist Brebner Changala has mocked the United Party for National Development (UPND) saying Zambians have seen more of President Hakainde Hichilema’s motorcades than electricity ever since he was voted into power.
Changala said food, water and electricity had become scarce in most households in the country compared to the presence of Hichilema’s motorcade on the road from Community House to State House.
“Zambians are now counting the times they see Hichilema move from State House to Community House and vice-versa. It is more times than the times they have electricity, water and food. In fact, they see more of the motorcade than the food they have. They see more of the motorcade than the times they have electricity in a week, and water,” he said.
Changala said Zambians should vote for a president who was ready to stay in State House in 2026, unlike his private residence, inconveniencing innocent citizens and spending carelessly on fuel and other contingencies which could be avoided.
He said Zambia would be governed better in 2026 only if Zambians voted for a leader who respected and listened to their cry.
“Hichilema’s continued stay at his private residence has been a serious disturbance to the residents of Chilenje, New Kasama, Woodlands, Chalala and the surrounding areas in Lusaka and people accessing these areas,” he said.
He said this when he featured on the KBN TV ‘Big Hour’ programme.
“My brother and your madam First Lady, please go and sleep in our Nkwazi House. To this very day, you have never commented on why you don’t want to sleep there. Then he has got this satellite M23 media [team], which tells you there is no law. I don’t know why he brings this unnecessary controversy. We, the people of Zambia, elected him, and we gave him a house in State House, and he should stay there,” Changala said.
He said Hichilema was the only head of state to breach State security and discredit all former presidents who stayed in State House during their tenure.
“Every day, he is causing commotion on Mosi-oa-Tunya Road in Woodlands, particularly. I pity people who stay there. And he doesn’t care,” Changala said.
He said it was unfortunate that the affected residents had nowhere to report the inconvenience.
‘Unfortunately, they don’t have anywhere to complain. It is very sad that you have a President and he doesn’t comment about it. That’s how he plays. When he is doing something wrong, he keeps quiet,” Changala said.
He reminded Hichilema that he would not be President forever, warning that his actions would haunt him soon.
And Changala has warned Hichilema against rushing into passing laws to prolong his stay in power while on the other hand insisting on the burial of former president Edgar Lungu at Embassy Park.
He urged Hichilema to desist from treating Zambians as his children.
“They are jumping all over. Who told them there is a law to bury this hero, late Edgar Lungu, at Embassy Park? No, don’t treat people like children. Now, what does he do? He says he is very prudent. That is why he keeps quiet and enjoying them. You will not hear him talking about his hero’s funeral. But he has got these boys who celebrate whenever they advance with the case in South Africa. Then they go abuzz on social media. Then he is watching, as he tells you, ‘I’m always on social media. I’m watching’. He enjoys the chaos,” Changala said.
