UPND wants no opposition, says Monde

 By Tony Nkhoma

THE target of the United Party for National Development (UPND) is to kill the entire opposition in the country, former Itezhi Tezhi member of Parliament Greyford Monde has said.

Monde said the UPND was under pressure and was receiving massive criticism for its failure to deliver hence its hurry to ensure that every divergent view was suppressed.

“The problem that the UPND have is that they want to exterminate anyone that brings competition, including exterminating the entire opposition in terms of political parties themselves,” Monde said.

He said that was evident in how it had been trying to kill the opposition Patriotic Front using Mafinga Member of Parliament Robert Chabinga.

“You can see how they are now running the PF themselves through stooges like Honourable Chabinga and so on and so forth. But their target now is that they just want to make sure that there is no opposition whatsoever,” Monde said.

The UPND wanted to ensure that whoever talked about its inefficiency was heaped with cases and eventually jailed.

He said he was shocked that the UPND was trying to find anything malicious to align him with the contractor of the Itezhi Thezi Road.

“I was also surprised to see this coming up on their [Facebook] page and a bit of talk that Brian Mundubile and myself are involved on that particular road,” Monde said.

He said he was surprised with the UPND’s propaganda that he was involved in the selection of the contractor.

“And the government procedure is that when a road loan bid agent has identified a road, they do the advertising, they choose a contractor through a bidding process, and a member of Parliament is never anywhere near that process. The only thing I will hear myself is that out of the companies that had participated in the bid, this is the contractor that has been appointed,” Monde said.

He said the UPND was in serious panic.
