THE League of African Ambassadors (LAA) says the appointment of Albert Muchanga as Zambia’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to Ethiopia and the African Union (AU) will enrich the continental bloc and elevate Zambia’s standing in multilateral affairs.
Muchanga was one of the new diplomats sworn in by President Hakainde Hichilema Monday.
LAA president Ominyi Nwanne said Muchanga’s return to Addis Ababa was not only a reaffirmation of his diplomatic prowess but a strategic moment for Zambia and for Africa as well.
“You bring with you a legacy of continental leadership, global engagement, and institutional wisdom that will undoubtedly enrich the African Union and elevate Zambia’s standing in multilateral affairs. On behalf of the League of African Ambassadors, I extend our warmest congratulations on your appointment by His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema as Zambia’s ambassador and permanent representative to Ethiopia and the African Union,” Nwanne said.
This is continued in statement issued by the LAA secretariat in Lusaka yesterday.
Nwanne said Muchanga’s distinguished career reflected a rare blend of experience and foresight.
He said LAA looked forward to Muchanga’s active participation and leadership within his growing fraternity.
“Your insights – such as those shared just last Friday at NIPA, where over 30 ambassadors gathered – continue to inspire. Your emphasis on multilingual proficiency, including French and Arabic alongside English, reminded us of the protocols and competencies essential for effective continental diplomacy.” Nwanne said.
Nwanne said Muchanga’s career had been a testament to truth, justice and the quiet power of diplomacy.
“We celebrate your appointment and look forward to your continued contributions to Africa’s collective progress,” Nwanne said.
