WE’RE IN HELL
…HH, UPND have messed up the country – Changala
By Mast Reporter
ZAMBIANS are going through economic and governance hell under President Hakainde Hichilema and the United Party for National Development (UPND) administration, governance activist Brebner Changala has said.
And Changala has urged Hichilema and the UPND to urgently surrender the Patriotic Front (PF) back to its legitimate owners.
Changala said since the UPND was elected in 2021, it had been admiring the Patriotic Front (PF) because the former ruling party was very efficient in economic governance.
Speaking when he featured on Power FM, he said Hichilema had messed the country up on all fronts but most importantly on governance.
“We are under the New Dawn administration which came to power on the backbone of change. They came to power on the backbone of the restoration of the rule of law, but they have violated human rights more than any other government,” he said.
Changala said it was in the public domain that Hichilema and the UPND had completely failed to govern the country.
“This is a political party which was in opposition at that time for 23 years and the current President had failed to do so [win] five times. He has messed up the country. He had no plans for this country,” he said.
Changala said what the UPND promised Zambians was the complete opposite of what it had delivered.
“Everybody celebrated the 2021 elections because we were starting in a new state. I am here to tell you that nothing changed. Our colleagues in the UPND were actually admiring the PF,” he said.
Changala said Hichilema now wanted to govern Zambia without checks and balances by deliberately grabbing and wanting to kill the main opposition political party, the PF.
“They wanted to be the PF in the UPND, and that’s exactly what we find ourselves in. The opposition are not allowed to hold rallies. The Patriotic Front was stolen without shame from the legitimate owners,” he said.
Changala told Hichilema that he should be ashamed for deliberately trying to destroy the PF in broad daylight.
“When the issues went to Parliament, Parliament played ball because PF had to die, democracy had to die and these people had to govern without effective checks and balances without a serious opposition,” he said.
Changala reminded Hichilema that the PF mattered most to the people of Zambia who were watching.
“It is shameful for Hichilema that he has handed Chabinga the papers of the party that he has no members to. But just to frustrate democracy and you’ll see publicly without shame, the President is ever with Chabinga and introducing him as leader of the opposition,” he said.
