TAKE the 2026 general elections very seriously and vote wisely this time around, the Community Action Focus (CAF) has urged the Zambian youth.
CAF Lusaka provincial lead Cindy Chilema urged the youths not to vote blindly in next year’s elections but elect candidates who had the heart for the people.
“And in the upcoming elections for the 2026 general elections, what I would hope to see for the youth is that we are given the opportunity to be able to vote wisely without being intimidated by any political party,” Chilema said.
She said the 2026 general elections would be the best platform for the youth across the country to choose credible leaders.
In an interview with The Mast, Chilema said young Zambians should not only exercise their right to cast their vote but choose leaders who would respond to their problems.
“On the 2026 elections, what I would say to the youth is that let’s not make decisions out of what we hear from others, or maybe because we belong to people that maybe holding higher positions somewhere, but let’s look for what we as the youth would want to see in the future,” Chilema said.
She said the youth were the future leaders of Zambia and urged them to take the 2026 general elections seriously by making wise choices in the voting booths.
“We are the future leaders and we should also be given places in the community to speak for the people, to voice out for those that cannot speak for themselves,” Chilema said.
She advised the youth to resist being used by political parties in violence and other illicit activities.
“As we are going to the next elections, let’s always make the wise decisions and not be used by any political leaders, any political people because they have money or because they want to get there,” Chilema said.
She said the young electorate should make better decisions by electing candidates with a heart for their respective communities.
