Police charge Zaloumis, husband, three others charged with murder

POLICE have charged Maria Zaloumis popularly known as Zed Farmer along with her husband and three others with the murder of 22-year-old Enock Simfukwe Kasengele.
Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said in a statement yesterday police had concluded investigations into the murder of Kasengele of 16 Miles on the Kabwe–Lusaka Road.
Hamoonga named the suspects as Zaloumis, her husband Nathaniel Barthrem, 34, a Nigerian, Daniel Chiluwa, 40, a farm manager of Onani Farm No. 5, Montana area, Fortune Mwitangati, 23, of Nyambe Farm and Gift Daka, 25, of Onani Farm.
“Following investigations, police today, August 28, 2025, have jointly charged and arrested five suspects for one count of murder, contrary to Section 200, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia,” Hamoonga said.
He assured the public that the police would continue pursuing justice without fear or favour and ensure that those who commit serious crimes were held accountable.
Kasengele died on August 17, 2025.
A postmortem examination was conducted on August 20, 2025, at Kabwe Central Hospital. Preliminary results indicated that the cause of death was blunt force head injury, brain contusion, and brain edema.
