KBF joins defence in HH, Chipo ‘impregnation’ case

 By Esther Chisola

LUSAKA lawyer Kelvin Bwalya Fube, commonly known as KBF, has joined the case to defend Lusaka businessman Joseph Chishimba, accused of having generated a Facebook post alleging that President Hakainde Hichilema impregnated former late president Levy Mwanawasa’s daughter Chipokota Mwanawasa.

In this matter, Chishimba is accused of harassment utilising means of electronic communication.

It is alleged that between October 9 and October 14, 2024, in Lusaka, Chishimba used his phone number to post a screenshot of a Facebook page called “Hon Charles Kakula” on a WhatsApp group named “Zambian Politics.”

One of the posts read: Chipo Mwanawasa is my ex-girlfriend, she’s being impregnated by a guy at State House (plot 1).

When the matter came up for continued trial before magistrate Idah Phiri, the State informed the court that they were not ready to proceed because the witness they had prepared was not before the court.

“Your honor, unfortunately, we are unable to proceed today with the trial. The witness we prepared for today has unfortunately not come. We ask for more time to ensure the witness is before the court,” the state said.

But Bwalya, who is also a leader of Zambia Must Prosper (ZMP), informed the Court that he was joining the case to defend Chishimba.

Bwalya, who placed himself on record, did not object to the state’s application for adjournment.

“Your honor, allow me to place myself on record. I’m counsel for the accused. We do not object to the application,” he said.

The matter has since been adjourned to September 15, 2025, for continued trial.

During the last court sitting, Chipokota 36, commonly known as Chipo, denied ever being in any relationship with her boss, President Hichilema, adding that the allegations of her being impregnated by the President were false.
