In Lungu Zambia has lost a gallant soldier – MDC

THE Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) in Eastern Province says Zambia has lost a gallant soldier in former president Edgar Chagwa Lungu.
In an interview, MDC provincial chairperson Jacob Mwanza said Lungu was the most loved man among poor Zambians because he easily associated with them.
Mwanza said Zambians should, therefore, mourn Lungu with the dignity he deserved as a leader who served the nation with love, compassion, unity and hard work.
“It’s a sad that today we have lost Dr Edgar Chagwa Lungu. This is a sad development indeed. I don’t know what is happening to our country that we keep losing all our former presidents,” he said.
Mwanza remembered Lungu as someone jovial, whose legacy in infrastructure and development stands out.
“If we can talk positive about his governance, he delivered the much-needed infrastructure starting from Lusaka and escalated it to other parts of the country. Up to now we still see some of the infrastructure that was delivered under his term of office. It is in that vein that we need to respect him,” he said.
Mwanza, who once served as district commissioner for Petauke District, urged MDC members in the province to mourn Lungu in peace, love and dignity.
He also urged government, the Lungu family and the Patriotic Front (PF) to put aside their differences and mourn the fallen former president in peace.
