COPPER Queens striker Racheal Kundanaji says education is an important tool which can be used to unlock opportunities.
Speaking when she addressed learners at Katuba Secondary School on Tuesday, Kundananji urged learners to take both education and sport seriously as they played an important role in people’s lives.
She said it was important for learners to remain focused on their education and to nurture their talents through various sports disciplines.
“All I can say is that it is possible to do well in both education and sports because they can work well at the same time. Just believe in yourself, keep your faith and continue working hard,” Kundananji said after donating a set of books to the school.
She said with passion and dedication, it was possible for one to make a break through in education and sport.
“Pay attention to education. But when an opportunity comes, like it did for me do not hesitate to grab it,” she said.
Kundananji said hard work pays.
“You [learners] may even become the most expensive players, may be better than me. Someone out there might pay for your engagement more than they did for me but that is if only you remain committed to that which you want to achieve in your life,” she said.
Kundananji, who shared her own inspiring journey through out her football career, said her humble beginnings has inspired her to work hard.
She said it was not easy for one to be called a professional player without evidence.
“In whatever you do, remain disciplined. It is only by doing so that you will see the goodness as well as the results you want to see coming your way,” she said.
Kundananji, took advantage of her familiarization visit to donate books to the school aimed at motivating students as they pursued their studies in both academic and sports.
“My gesture here is not just about giving back to the school but also planting a seed of inspiration.
“I believe that one day it will bear fruits in the lives of many of you whom we are looking at today as our future leaders of tomorrow,” she said.
The Bay FC forward arrived in the country on Monday this week for national duty.
She is part of the 24-member squad that Coach Nora Hauptle has assembled ahead of a three-nation FIFA international friendly matches which started yesterday in South Africa.
