No second term for HH, Zambians are in pain – Nakacinda
- Seeking another term of office would be painful and deadly for most Zambians
- The damage Hichilema has caused now is deeper than what most Zambians see on face value

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema is scared to go to jail when he leaves State House, hence the plea for a second term of office for self-preservation, PF secretary general Raphael Nakacinda has said.
Nakacinda said Hichilema’s presidency had been littered with total failure, disaster and a gestapo type of governance.
He said seeking another term of office would be troubling, painful and deadly for most Zambians, if not all.
Nakacinda said at the moment Zambians were in pain and stress because of the poor leadership by Hichilema, which had totally destroyed and divided the country, negatively affecting the national economic development so far.
He said Zambians were shocked that despite high levels of destruction he had inflicted on Zambia, Hichilema was now asking for a second term of office.
“So, far he has managed to destroy the economy by pushing for anti-Zambian policies. So far, he has well managed to kill the agriculture sector by coming up with a law that support his foreign interests at the expense of Zambians. He has destroyed the country’s democracy by criminalising freedom of expression. He wants to sign a law that will take Zambians to prison for 25 years with hard labour for speaking out. He has wiped out assets in mines which he has given to his foreign friends. He is now arresting anyone he feels is keeping him in check. What else can such a person double in the second term if not to double the vengeance he has for dissenting views?” Nakacinda said.
He wondered why Hichilema would seek a second term, when his first term of office was all about destruction of Zambia.
Nakacinda said what was clear about Hichilema seeking a second term of office was to continue inflicting misery and pain on innocent and poor Zambians.
He said the damage Hichilema had caused now was deeper than what most Zambians would see on face value.
“The pain our people are going through is too much to even imagine. Later on someone like Hichilema to even start thinking about a second term. A second term for what? To continue suppressing Zambians, continue looting, continue to run a corruption regime, to continue running a mafia type of administration where people were being abducted for showing discontentment? A second term to finish off selling our natural resources such as mukula, gold and other precious minerals?” Nakacinda wondered.
He said the only decent thing one could do was to step aside and seek a way of leaving power to those who had an idea about the rule of law, governance and democratisation.
Nakacinda reminded Hichilema that the brutality he had exerted on Zambians was deep and painful.
He said one day, if not soon, it would haunt him and his regime.
“This man is scared to go to jail after what he has done to innocent people. It is under his nose that State House is mentioned or incriminated in abductions of innocent people. It is under his regime that State House has been implicated into state-sponsored arrests of opposition leaders, activists and others who question him over brutality. We should not even beat about the bush; it is under his regime where police officers have become political attack dogs for State House,” Nakacinda said.
He urged Hichilema to reflect on his conduct while in office whether the second term he was pleading for was well-meaning or was about self-preservation.
