Kabwe serial murderer, rapist cornered

POLICE in Kabwe has arrested a serial killer in connection with the murder of three old women and the attack on an unknown male victim around Mukobeko Prison area.
Mwila Sampa, 30, who is an ex-convict released on February 17 from Mukobeko Medium Correctional Facility in Kabwe was initially apprehended on April 8, 2025 after being found with a laptop bag belonging to one of the dead within Mukobeko area.
Central Province police commissioner Charity Munganga said in an interview the suspect was later handed over to the police.
Munganga said after thorough investigations, Sampa confessed to have first raped and murdered the victims identified as Agnes Mambwe, 65, of Mukobeko Correctional Services Camp, who went missing on March 20 and later found dead behind Mukobeko Maximum Prison on April 9.
Sampa is also alleged to have murdered Emelda Banda, 51, of Maipambe area, who went missing on March 28 and found dead near Waterworks in Mukobeko area on March 31.
Police said Sampa was also alleged to have murdered Joyce Matabula, 44, of Maipambe area whose body was discovered in the area on April 4, 2025.
He is also alleged to have attacked an unknown male person and robbed him of his phone.
Munganga said police had managed to recover some of the stolen property from Sampa’s grandmother’s place in Makululu Compound.
She said investigations into the matter were continuing, and appealed to anyone who might have been attacked by Sampa to report to any police station or police post in Kabwe.
