TRUST US-KANYEMBA

By Mast Reporter

ZAMBIA U17 Women’s National Team coach Carol Kanyemba has assured fans that the team is fully prepared to deliver victory in today’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup second round, second leg qualifier against Tanzania at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium in Ndola.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference in Ndola yesterday, Kanyemba assured fans that the team is ready to build on the 3-0 advantage from the first leg match played in Dar- es- Salaam.

“The first leg win gives us an advantage but hasn’t finished the job, we have another 90 minutes to play and we have told our girls not to be complacent because anything can happen in football, so we are telling our girls to remain focused and continue from where they left from,” Kanyemba said.

“We need this more than anything, everyone has been backing us and we are not ready to disappoint our fans and the people who have been there to support us. There is a lot of expectations from this team and this game so the girls know what is at stake and they have promised to work hard and produce a positive result for us to proceed into the next round.”

According to FAZ media, Captain Mercy Chipasula said it would be an honour for the Copper Princesses to play in front of the Levy Mwanawasa stadium faithful and called on her fellow players to remain focused on today’s assignment.

“We played well in Tanzania after having a tough first half, but that game is behind us. This is a new challenge, and we must approach it with the same hunger and discipline. We are calling on our fans to come out in numbers and support us because their presence gives us extra motivation,” the Kamfinsa Blue Eagles captain said.

Victory on Saturday will see Zambia advance to the third round of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers where they will face the winners of the tie between Benin and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
