By Tony Nkhoma

MINISTER of Science and Technology Felix Mutati has said Zambia has made 69 percent improvement in cyber security.

Mutati says the achievement has significantly contributed to trust and confidence among key players in the technology sector.

He, however, said despite the remarkable achievement, government had not relented in investing in competence in order to apply and strengthen the technological advancement in Zambia.

Speaking in an interview in Lusaka, Mutati said Zambia was among the few African countries that had made advancements in implementing the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategy.

He, however, said Zambia did not have deficiency in implementing the AI Strategy’

Mutati cited attitude among key players as a main source of concern.

“There is a need for a change of mindset in implementing various technological local solutions, particularly the application of a more resilient approach in deploying the AI Strategy,” Mutati said.

He said the development and deployment of appropriate technology would no doubt contribute to solving local problems with local solutions.
