Judith divorces ‘bedroom amateur’ Cephas

JUDITH Ngoma has divorced Cephas Chiwande because he has failed to change his amateurish habit of going directly without first ‘grooming’ her with foreplay when performing his bedroom duties.
Ngoma, 36, a hairdresser of Six Miles area, told Matero Local Court magistrates Moses Lubuwa, Nancy Ngoma and Victoria Ndhlovu that Chiwande’s practice was injuring her as it caused sores on her reproductive organs.
She said Chiwande was so jealous that he always accused her of coming back from prostitution each time she returned home from her business errands and family and social engagements.
Chiwande, a 44-year-old charcoal trader, only bought food for the family without helping her to buy clothes for their four children or pay their school fees.
Ngoma said Chiwande had developed the habit of forcing her to make love in the sitting room on grounds that there were bad spirits in the bedroom which made him lose libido.
She said Chiwande would stay for sometime without having sex with her on grounds that he did not want any conjugal activity because it was a sin as he was praying yet sometimes he would just masturbate.
Ngoma testified that one time she went to visit her sick sister in Ngwerere area where she spent a night.
Chiwande later phoned to ask when she would return and that he informed her that their marriage was over.
She said one day when his mother went to visit them he wanted to drag her to the sitting room and when she refused a fierce fight ensued.
When Chiwande’s mother tried to intervene, he slapped her.
Their oldest daughter booked a taxi and he paid for the ride.
She said because of what she had been going through, she wanted divorce from him because he had repeatedly threatened to kill her.
In his response, Chiwande admitted that he preferred making love to Ngoma in the sitting room because he lost energy when they did it in their bedroom.
He said the problem with Ngoma was that she always wanted to be on top of things in the house and never listened to him.
Chiwande said she deliberately annoyed him when one day she returned home drunk from a kitchen party yet she did not drink alcohol.
At first, he had refused divorce Ngoma but later changed his mind.
He said he loved her but since she had chosen to divorce him, he would comply.
In her judgment, magistrate Ngoma granted the couple divorce after noting that there were irredeemable problems in the marriage.
Chiwande had failed to provide for his children and was a jealous man who never trusted his wife because of her beauty.
She ordered Chiwande to compensate Ngoma with K10,000 in monthly installments of K800.
